Repositioning cruises 2022 & 2023

royal caribbean repositioning cruise

A repositioning cruise is an itinerary that repositions a ship from one homeport to another, and it's quite different from a regular cruise itinerary. These sailings typically feature a large number of sea days while traveling between continents. Set sail on an unforgettable journey with Celebrity Cruises in 2024 & 2025, as they offer a captivating lineup of repositioning cruises. Known for their exceptional service and luxurious accommodations, Celebrity Cruises has curated a diverse selection of voyages to cater to every traveler’s wanderlust. Whether you crave a peaceful retreat or an adventurous expedition, Celebrity Cruises has the perfect repositioning cruise for you. Transpacific and transatlantic cruises offer plenty of relaxing days at sea, plus exciting stops at idyllic, beach-filled islands and cities bustling with life and culture.

Allure Of The Seas

See the Cathedral of San Juan in Puerto Rico and the 14th-century Gothic Basilica of Santa Maria in Barcelona. Windstar Cruises' Wind Spirit, a masted sailing ship, is repositioning from Barbados to Lisbon, Portugal, on Feb. 22, 2025. However, you'll only want to book this voyage if you're interested in sailing vessels or you're not easily bored.

If you've got room to splurge, you may want to consider a luxury line like Silversea or the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. From Sydney to either Honolulu or Seattle, be prepared to cross hemispheres and visit the best (and most beautiful) South Pacific islands. Immerse yourself in the historic architecture and cultural achievements on either side of the oceans. Prices for this voyage on Seven Seas Grandeur, which is an all-inclusive, all-suite vessel, start at $10,499 per person. Travelers who live near the embarkation or debarkation ports can save even more by only having to buy a one-way plane ticket rather than a full round trip. Boston is home to great sports, great food and loads of history with the Freedom Trail and Harvard.

What can I expect between consecutive cruises?

It's a good idea to have some type of seasickness remedy on hand, even if you're not typically sensitive to motion. The weather on a repo cruise depends on where and when you go, and always involves slightly more thoughtful packing. For example, a ship sailing from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean during fall will kick off with brisk weather but end in a warm, humid climate. Guests can often snag a good daily rate on the cruise, but the total fare could still be high -- in addition to potentially pricey one-way airfare. Be on the lookout for cruise deals that include airfare or shorter repo sailings, which offer even better value. Things start to warm up with a day on Madeira, followed by the volcanic island of Tenerife in the Canaries, then there’s eight days of total relaxation during the transatlantic crossing to Fort Lauderdale.

West Coast to Japan, or Australia or New Zealand, and the seasonal repositioning in reverse. For some passengers, spending days on end in the middle of nowhere -- particularly on ocean crossings -- is more maddening than relaxing. Though some ships spend the entire year sailing the same itineraries, many relocate to follow the sun. Likewise, in spring many ships, having spent winter in the Caribbean and South America, head back to Britain via the Azores, Canary Islands and Iberian Peninsula.

The shortest you'll find is four or five days (for example, Southern California to Vancouver) and the longest is around 28 nights (yes, almost an entire month, usually between continents). Your origin and destination cities — or, in cruise-speak, embarkation and disembarkation ports — will not be the same. You might sail out of Florida and arrive in Barcelona or Southampton, England, allowing you to explore two continents on one vacation.

The sailing will visit Valencia, Malaga and Las Palmas in Spain, as well as Bermuda, before reaching Port Canaveral, near Orlando, which is the ship's seasonal home base in Florida. Not all of the cruise line or online travel agency booking pages have an option to check a box and search for repositioning cruises. If you can't find what you're looking for, do an online search for the term and the cruise line you wish to sail. Even better, call a travel agent or the cruise line's booking staff directly, and they can help you find the repositioning cruise that's best for you. An advantage of repositionings is the price, which is often cheaper than what you'd pay for a round-trip sailing of the same length or which has more port days built into the schedule.

Immerse yourself in a wealth of onboard activities and entertainment, from Broadway-style shows to adrenaline-pumping waterslides. With top-notch service and amenities, Royal Caribbean International ensures every moment of your repositioning cruise is filled with unforgettable experiences. What sets Viking Ocean Cruises apart are its unique features and amenities that elevate the repositioning cruise experience to new heights. From spacious and elegantly appointed staterooms to world-class dining options curated by renowned chefs, every aspect of the journey is designed to exceed expectations. Passengers can relax and unwind in luxurious onboard spas, enjoy enriching lectures and cultural performances, and partake in immersive shore excursions led by knowledgeable guides. With attentive service and attention to detail at every turn, Viking Ocean Cruises ensures that every moment spent onboard is nothing short of extraordinary.

These cruises are typically offered during the spring and fall, when cruise lines reposition their ships to different parts of the world to take advantage of the changing seasons and travel patterns. Repositioning cruises are known for having a greater-than-average number of days spent at sea, but it's not as if you never get off the ship. On a transatlantic sailing, port stops could be in Spain's Canary Islands or Portugal's Azores islands. A repositioning cruise from Southern California to Vancouver before the Alaska cruise season might sail up the Pacific Coast and visit cities like San Francisco and Astoria, Oregon. In order to get from one region to another, repositioning cruises tend to be significantly longer sailings, with lots of sea days inbetween. While all these extra days means more time to experience what is available onboard, many cruisers are concerned about the cruise getting dull or even boring.

These voyages offer travelers the chance to embark on unforgettable journeys across the seas, exploring new destinations and cultures along the way. With Viking Ocean Cruises, passengers can expect unparalleled comfort, luxury, and service from start to finish. Whether it is traversing the tranquil waters of the Mediterranean or crossing the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, Viking Ocean Cruises ensures a seamless and enriching experience for all passengers.

A repositioning cruise is when a ship moves from doing a lot of sailings in one region to another region. You can embark from cities like Sydney, Barcelona, Fort Lauderdale and Buenos Aires among other domestic and exotic ports. Viking Ocean Cruises is renowned for its exceptional repositioning cruises in 2024 & 2025.

Explore new horizons with Celebrity Cruises’ repositioning cruises in 2024 & 2025, featuring enchanting destinations and carefully planned itineraries. Cruise through the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean, discover the historic ports of Europe, or witness the majestic beauty of Alaska. Each journey promises a wealth of enriching experiences, from stunning beaches to cultural treasures, ensuring memories that will last a lifetime.

Carnival cruise food: The ultimate guide to restaurants and dining on board

With so many offerings, you can certainly dine at Chibang more than once during your cruise vacation. We are back from a cruise on Carnival's newest ship and have put together this complete Carnival Celebration Restaurants Guide with menus. As with every menu section, you can order as much as you like. If there’s one department in which the menus might be lacking, it’s the vegetarian options. Carnival also lists jeans forbidden for elegant evenings, but in our experience, they tend to look the other way as long as the jeans are excellent.

This is a popular spot on Carnival Celebration so don’t be surprised to find a line most times during the day. The Java Blue Cafe is your dedicated coffee shop on Carnival Celebration. Located in the new Celebration Central zone, this venue opens at 6 AM most mornings for cruisers to get their caffeine fix. Serving espresso-based beverages and milk shakes that are included in the Cheers drink package, you might find yourself visiting this cafe quite a bit.

This private oasis offers plenty of space with comfy lounge furniture, a pool, whirlpools, a bar, and even some healthy lunch options at the Fresh Creations salad bar. Big Chicken is open for breakfast from around 7/8 to 11 AM and for lunch from 11 AM to 5 PM daily. This venue serves up signature chicken sandwiches with Shaq’s special sauce, in addition to chicken tenders and fries. Perhaps one of our favorite newer additions to Carnival ships is Shaq’s Big Chicken.

Complimentary Carnival Jubilee Restaurants

Carnival Cruise Line, in particular, has taken this evolution to heart, revolutionizing its drink offerings with a tailored menu for almost every bar on their ships. This accomplishment is noteworthy, especially when considering that a single ship can host between 10 and 15 bars. Carnival has been rolling out faster Wi-Fi systems across its fleet in the last couple of years, such that you can now stream video on some ships. Pricing changes over time, but the fastest "premium" service on Carnival vessels was recently priced at $21.25 per day when bought in advance ($25 per day when bought onboard).

Premium cuts and seafood are the centerpiece to this evening dining experience. ” is a question you’ll never have to ask at a dining room dinner aboard a Carnival cruise… we set the table for you. We also bring to the table a full three courses in an experience that’s satisfying, not stuffy — after all, you’re just as likely to catch waiters table-dancing as you are to order dessert. On the Mardi Gras, Celebration and Jubilee, it’s been upgraded to a two-story pool-side venue called the RedFrog Tiki bar with a slightly different menu (see below). Every Carnival ship has a piano bar that’s hopping every night. While it might not always be named Piano Bar 88, it will have a similar drink menu to the one below.

Meanwhile, for passengers hoping for quiet time away from the kids, many Carnival ships also have an adults-only Serenity retreat area on their top decks with padded loungers, daybeds, hot tubs and often a bar. It's a fun-at-sea focus that has gone to new levels over the past two years with the debut of Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, each of which has — get this — a roller coaster on the top deck. At 800 feet in length, these aren't the biggest roller coasters ever. However, they're real ones — the first ever on a cruise ship. Carnival Panorama also houses Carnival's first cooking classroom.

On many ships there are extensive dedicated spaces for the different groups. Carnival claims to draw more children than any other cruise line. So perhaps it makes sense that it has one of the most extensive children's programs at sea. The line has formal children's programming and activities for children as young as 2 years old through the age of 17.

On Carnival Jubilee, Cucina Del Capitano is free for the whole sailing. On Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras, your first meal is included, with additional visits at a cost of $8 per person. The other ships with this venue currently charge a fixed price of $24 per adult. The all-day pizza station is going to be your go-to option when you get back from a day at port and the lunch buffet is already closed or when you're hungry after a late night of partying.

The new Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration each have 180 suites — more than twice the number of Carnival's other recent ships. Carnival is the undisputed leader among North America-based cruise brands when it comes to affordability, which makes it popular with vacationers on a budget. In recent years, Carnival also has deployed two of its vessels to Australia to operate voyages from Sydney and Brisbane. In a departure from Carnival's American-focused business model, the Australia sailings are aimed mostly at the local Australian market, though they are open to American travelers.

While this is usually the order of the menus on 5-night itineraries, double check once onboard. — with fan-favorite Carnival cornerstones now being joined by innovative selections from Emeril Lagasse and our chefs. New choices like Pappardelle with Braised Lamb, Coffee Glazed Roast Duck and Hawaiian Shrimp Poke are sure to please, to be honest… almost every palate. That’s why Carnival’s new vegan dining room menu is so important to making sure everyone finds food they love.

Elizabeth graduated from New York University's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute with her M.A. Growing up, she had the privilege of traveling frequently with her family and fell in love with cruising after sailing on the Oasis of the Seas her freshman year of high school. She wanted to pursue a career that highlighted her passion for travel and strengths as a writer.

Your options typically included classics like daiquiris, pina coladas, and, if the menu dared to be bold, perhaps a mojito. Today, the drink landscape has undergone a significant transformation. Cruise ship bars now boast a diverse array of choices, featuring craft beers, premium spirits, and meticulously concocted cocktails. Street Eats is also located on the pool deck offering food truck-type selections.

There's almost always a piano bar that's home to lively singalongs. When it comes to raucous, though, nothing on Carnival ships quite compares to the frequent karaoke nights on board. Sometimes held in a secondary lounge or a shipboard pub, karaoke on Carnival draws a big crowd. Passengers come prepared with rehearsed songs and sometimes even their own guitars.

Open on the Lido Deck until midnight, the Swirls station serves up frozen yogurt and soft serve ice cream in the classic flavors of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, or you can enjoy your own combo swirl. The best part is it's self-serve, so no one can judge you for how often you come back for another cone. Carnival's buffet on the Lido Deck has all the staple stations to keep you fed from morning until night.

It’s inspired by the Carnevale di Venezia, an annual festival held in Venice. Guests will find live music and fine Italian wines and cocktails. The Blue Iguana Tequila Bar is a pool-side bar located by the Lido Pool on almost every Carnival ship except for the Mardi Gras, Celebration, Jubilee, Firenze, and Venezia. Bar 820 is the indoor/outdoor bar located on the Carnival Celebration (it replaces the Bar Della Rosa on Mardi Gras). They specialize in cocktails with a distinct Miami twist and are made with Miami-sourced ingredients. The Amari Bar is an elevated, Italian-themed cocktail bar currently only available on the Carnival Venezia.

An homage to casual food trucks and stalls, Street Eats is like a miniature open-air food market with three different stations serving street food favorites. Find bao buns and pot stickers at Steam Dream, kebabs and satay at Mad Sizzle and epic loaded fries at Time Fries. To top it off, enjoy dishes such as apple cheesecake with limoncello whipped cream, chocolate truffle cake, white chocolate bread pudding or key lime pie for dessert.

These amenities cater to the diverse interests and preferences of passengers, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable cruise experience for everyone. Third-class passengers will dine on stew and mashed potatoes at communal tables in a dining room reminiscent of the original ship. However, a spokesperson noted that alternative meal options will also be available for passengers seeking a less traditional experience. He also revealed that the Finnish-based ship design and marine engineering company Deltamarin supported the project.

In April 2012, Clive Palmer launched a new company called Blue Star Line -- a nod to the company behind the original Titanic vessel, White Star Line -- to create a replica of the Titanic, to be named Titanic II. His hope is that people captivated by the Titanic's dramatic story would want to relive the ship's crossing. Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has revived his long-cherished dream to build Titanic II. After a number of false starts, abandoned plans and a lot of talk, Palmer has once again announced plans to replicate the doomed liner, with a planned launch date of 2027.

Contacting the Crown & Anchor Society

A replica of the Titanic could embark on its maiden voyage by 2022 and eventually follow its doomed predecessor's original route from Southampton to New York, the company behind the "Titanic II" project says. Clive Palmer, an Australian businessman and chairman of Blue Star Line, announced the revival of the project in September following years of delays due to financial constraints. Beyond its visual similarities, the Titanic 2 ship is engineered to offer more than just a nostalgic replica of the original Titanic. It’s a fully functional, ocean-going cruise liner equipped with cutting-edge safety features, which will be discussed in detail later in the article.

... except this time around, 21st-century technology like radar will be used to navigate the seas.

The Titanic 2 ship is not merely a vessel; it’s a floating homage to one of the most storied maritime legends in history. This ambitious project aims to resurrect the grandeur of the original RMS Titanic while ensuring adherence to 21st-century safety standards. The CDC plays a crucial role in monitoring and tracking the status of cruise ships through their color-coded system. This system allows the CDC to assess the COVID-19 situation on each ship and implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

How Often Are Cruise Ships Required to Report Their Color Status to the Cdc?

Originally was planned an audiovisual technology at ship's theatre to simulate the iceberg collision that resulted in the sinking, but the idea was later scrapped. Ship's disaster simulator allows "passengers" to feel the shipwreck atmosphere in 6D. The plans to build T2 are very similar to previous ones, in that the ship will be an exact replica of the original (though with more lifeboats and a design that complies with all current safety regulations). To that end, according to cruise blogger Dave Monk, the project is backed by Finnish-based ship design and marine engineering company Deltamarin. The past month has seen a significant improvement, with more green ships and a decrease in non-green ships. The cruise lines have stepped up their protocols since mid-August, coinciding with a decline in cases on land.

Its namesake famously sank in the Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg. But in a few years, fans of "Titanic" the film could have to opportunity to ride in the same ship where people fell in love with Rose and Jack. Palmer said tenders for the construction of the vessel would go out in June, with contracts signed by December. According to the billionaire’s estimate, the project would cost between $500 million and $1 billion. According to the Guardian, Palmer revealed plans to secure a shipyard and start building the vessel “far, far superior than the original” early next year.

After reaching the required number of points, my Crown & Anchor status is upgraded. Reaching higher status levels brings benefits like discounts, member-only functions, free drinks, and even free cruises. The program offers a range of bonus point promotions that allow me to earn additional points on select sailings.

If all goes according to plan, Palmer said the ship will travel from Dubai to Southampton before making the journey across the Atlantic. The original Titanic was the world's largest and most luxurious ocean liner when it hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank on April 15, 1912. Only 700 people of the more than 2,200 on board survived the most famous maritime disaster in history, partly because there were not enough lifeboats to carry everyone. Just as the original liner, Titanic 2 is planned to have 3 passenger classes, with the options of guests to sleep 6 nights in a same-class cabin or 2 nights in each class.

The new Titanic ship is powered by four Wartsila diesel engines - two model 12V46F (12-cylinder, combined output 28,8 MW) plus two model 8L46F (8-cylinder gen-sets, combined output 19,2 MW), to total power output 48 MW. The propulsion system is based on 3x azimuth thrusters (360-degree rotating propellers) with combined output 30 MW. The new ship will be 883 ft (270 m) long, just 2 inches longer than the original and 12 ft (3,7 m) wider in order to increase stability. The shipbuilder is CSC Jinling in Nanjing (the capital city of Jiangsu province, central-eastern China). In September 2018, Clive Palmer confirmed in London England that construction works have been recommended and that the new liner will be nearly identical to RMS Titanic.

Remember to factor in the cost of two one-way flights when you're calculating the savings bonus of taking a one-way cruise. In the past, Disney Cruise Line required that you be vaccinated or tested for COVID-19 before sailing, but this is no longer the case. Guests departing from the United States are not required to do either, though the cruise line highly encourages you to get vaccinated before sailing. Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. There are still far more itineraries that we have not done as compared to ones we have. If any of you experienced cruisers have additional tips or recommendations as to itineraries, excursions, or anything else, please share them. We wanted to put this guide together as a handy starting point, because we’ve been receiving a lot of questions about Disney Cruise Line. There’s also recreation like basketball, shuffleboard, ping pong, soccer, and more.

Kids clubs

For example, when my family and I visited Port Grand Cayman, we chose to grab a taxi to the beach rather than to book a port adventure through DCL. This next step requires you to do a bit of research on Disney Cruise Line activities. If this is your first cruise with Disney Cruise Line, you will typically book activities 75 days before sailing. Doing research on cruise activities well in advance gives you an idea of what you want to book BEFORE your online check-in date arrives. One benefit of staying in a concierge-level stateroom is free WiFi. How much internet you’ll get depends on the type of stateroom you booked.

It’s also possible to purchase a specialty beer mug at the pub onboard, which can then be refilled across the ship. Much like Disney’s popcorn buckets, your beer mugs entitle you to cheaper refills on all your beer. One-way positioning cruises — that is, those that end in a different location from where they started — are often much cheaper per night than standard round-trip cruises.

It’s impossible to cover every single piece of entertainment available on the Disney Cruise Line. First of all, because there are like 20+ different things to do everyday. Second, because it changes from cruise to cruise, so we could never keep up.

Let us know what you think about the revised offering in the comments. You can initiate the purchase process by launching the Disney Cruise Navigator App, selecting the MORE tab, and clicking on the Connect to Internet option. Alternatively, you can visit onboardicafe.com when connected to DCL-GUEST. Please note, the link only works when connected to the ship’s WiFi network.

If you’re not a dog person, my mom swears by the glacier helicopter rides. For cruisers with kiddos, it’s almost always easier to sign up for the kids’ club after you board the ship. You are able to in the terminal but the lines get very long, especially compared to the ones onboard the ship. There are plenty of characters to meet onboard Disney Cruise Line (and on the private island, Castaway Cay), and just like in the parks, they’re happy to meet you and your little ones. These characters also have the great benefit of being in great, sea-worthy outfits!

If you are staying in a concierge-level room, you may want to pack some extra cash for the concierge lounge hosts and the evening bartenders, too. The Disney Visa Card also offers some onboard savings perks and you can enjoy 0% APR for six months on your Disney vacation packages from the date of purchase, after that a variable APR of 19.24%-28.24%. In the example below, you'll see the cheapest inside cabin where you pick a specific room on the ship is $2,072, while the price starts at $1,488 if you let Disney choose which inside room you get. This type of fare comes with additional restrictions, so read the fine print carefully. I've done this multiple times and have always been happy with the room location I've received. If you're not picky about which cabin you get, an easy way to save a substantial amount of cash on your Disney cruise is to let Disney pick your cabin for you.

Does Disney Cruise Line Have Cell Service?

While crew gratuities on Disney Cruise Line are not included in the overall cost, some can be prepaid before you step onboard. These include gratuities to your dining room server, assistant server and head server, plus your cabin host. Disney recommends a gratuity of $14.50 per night per person, including infants and children in regular cabins. It's recommended that those in concierge cabins and suites pay $15.50, with the extra going to your cabin assistant host. Disney warns cruise guests that onboard internet may sometimes be slow, interrupted, or completely unavailable.

It might seem easy to pick a room since there’s only inside, oceanview, and verandah categories. However, there are actually several “secret” verandah and porthole staterooms, as well as mini-suites and oversized rooms, all of which are priced in a lower tier than you might expect. On the other hand, they use space efficiently, are laid out so that you can use them for more than just sleeping and showering, and are well-designed. (I guess we sort of are going to say they’re luxurious!) They are still small and I wouldn’t want to spend more than a couple hours of free time in the stateroom each day, but the rooms are nice. You might want to consider the Frogg Togg Super-sized Chilly Cooling Towel for putting on your lounge chair to keep cool around the pool or on Castaway Cay.

I created a printable planning guide you can download on Etsy to organize all of your travel details. You do not have to purchase the guide in order to find the information below useful. Disney Cruise Line in a Jiffy is an offshoot of our “Disney in a Minute” posts. Both are bite-sized nuggets of information that can better help you understand a Disney term or planning topic, but here we’ll be focused on all thing Disney Cruise Line (DCL).

Here you'll find video games, an indoor slide, fun programs and games with the staff, arts and crafts, surprise character visits and more. Your kids need to be potty trained to stay in this club, so use that as motivation for a kid approaching 3 years old before your next cruise. If you want to be more active, head to your ship's sports deck to play basketball, foosball, miniature golf and more.

A Closer Look at Royal Caribbean's 9-Month Ultimate World Cruise

9 month cruise map

Then there's a video by Little Rat Brain that showed what her cabin looked like, and it has 1.4 million views. I'm not sure what constitutes "something big", but misbehaving guests, accidents, and strange occurrences happen on pretty much every cruise (and high school, theme park, or Starbucks) around the world. TikTok and the media have become obsessed with Royal Caribbean's first ever world cruise for all the things that happen on pretty much any cruise. The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth and on a Great Lakes cruise you can explore their natural beauty.

Royal Caribbean's New Cruise Will Visit 65 Countries in 9 Months

Like Maddox, many likened the cruise to the viral BamaRushTok — the time of year when sororities recruit new members at The University of Alabama, which is often shared by potential recruits on TikTok. Maddox, who has taught some of the women who became stars of the Bama Rush phenomenon, said she’s seen first-hand how real people being treated like figures on reality TV can be damaging and stressful. Beyond that, those documenting their time on the ship have yet to report any reality TV-worthy drama for TikTok to consume. The posts from those on land have mostly consisted of documenting who is aboard the ship, creating “bingo cards” for events on the ship, and cheering on drama.

But before you share that article that there's drama on the world cruise, here's a reality check. Combine dramatic landscapes with bustling cosmopolitan cities by taking a cruise to Australian and New Zealand. The Australian and New Zealand people are friendly and prod of what their countries offer. Beautiful coral reefs, Aboriginal history, and spectacular glaciers are just some of the amazing things that you will find on a cruise to Australia and New Zealand. Galapagos cruises offer a unique opportunity to see nature that few humans get the opportunity to experience. In the Galapagos, nearly half of the species are found nowhere else in the world.

Linderman was inspired by her brother's family to book the nine-month cruise

Guests had the option to book the entire 274 night voyage, or hop on for smaller segments. The first traverses North America and South America over 67 nights and includes stops in Brazil, the Caribbean and Antarctica. Rumors also quickly began to circulate on TikTok, with some people alleging that the ship wasn’t at capacity and how some travelers with better membership status were being treated differently than the others on board. One person began tracking all the content creators on board so that others could easily follow along. Another offered advice to those on the ship on how to stay safe and healthy. As you might expect, however, longer cruises like this typically appeal to an older demographic – people who have the time and means for a longer getaway.

By the time we spoke, Linderman and LRB had already been to six stops in nine days, including a visit to the Chichen Itza ruins. So, we asked them some of our most burning questions about life at sea. People watching on TikTok seem quite intrigued by the idea of spending that long on a cruise ship, and it almost seemed like a reality show to viewers. The interest began with passengers onboard sharing what it's like to live on a cruise ship for almost an entire year.

Linderman said her test cruise allowed her to visualize how she would store items such as toiletries and clothes for the next nine months. During that first sailing, she packed a tape measure, which she said she used to plan out storage for her closet, the bathroom, and the bedroom area. Linderman said she planned what she called her "test cruise." Her travel agent booked her on a sailing in October on the Serenade of the Seas. Not only was it the same ship, but she was also able to choose to stay in the same exact room she had reserved for the Ultimate World Cruise. Unlike many of the other passengers on board the world cruise, Linderman had zero experience on massive vacation ships. She had, however, spent two years volunteering in West Africa with Mercy Ships, a nonprofit that operates floating hospitals.

People on TikTok became as interested in the cruise itself as the personalities of the creators. Given that the vast majority of the public has never been on a cruise before, all sorts of assumptions and predictions were made. Pink coral beaches, colonial British culture, world class golf, spectacular diving and warm crystal waters to name a few. The shopping in Bermuda is world class and a cruise to Bermuda will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with memories that will last forever. She recalled that when she started to put the items away, she thought, "OK, how do I win this game of Tetris." For the nine-month cruise, each passenger was allowed to bring six bags on board.

While Linderman's sister-in-law, brother, and their children weighed the pros and cons of going, Linderman was also intrigued, even though she had never vacationed on a cruise before, she told Business Insider. "If you notice and compliment someone's necklace [in the hallway], it easily leads to a conversation because we all have the time to stop and chat," LRB says. "We are not dashing to the store or late for a meeting. We are all experiencing the same things, so it doesn't matter if you're eight or 80, you have a foundation to start a connection." "It's incredibly fascinating to watch from this side. But no, I don't see the drama popping off like people do. I don't know. I hope I'm not wrong. I hope it's not full of drama." "There is always a possibility for drama, since drama is a part of every community and we are a very, very small community, in a unique situation," LRB says.

Travel by domed rail cars as you visit the interior wilderness sights of Denali, the Klondike and the Yukon. Expand your cruise experience with an Alaska CruiseTour and get a bird's eye view of Alaska's unsurpassed beauty. Visit many islands, explore many cultures and relax on the warm beaches surrounded by turquoise waters. Adventure abounds with opportunities to snorkel, swim with the dolphins, take a zip line tour, go boating or enjoy many great deals while shopping. When the nine-month cruise finally started, Linderman got to her room, where she had five large suitcases, a carry-on bag, a backpack, and a weekender bag waiting to be unpacked.

Take in captivating views of Norway’s majestic fjords, gaze at glaciers in Antarctica, and soak up the sun and the sights while cruising through French Polynesia. In between adventures onshore, you can unwind poolside or tee off on the mini golf green. Settle in for dazzling entertainment or dance until dawn beneath the stars. And with top-notch restaurants onboard, every meal turns into a global taste-tour that’s as immersive as your Ultimate World Cruise. Hawaii cruises offer the opportunity to visit all of Hawaii in one leisurely and relaxing vacation.

Escape to the coasts of Mexico to watch the brilliant sunsets in Cabo San Lucas. Sail to Mediterranean ports for a more traditional European celebration. Or cruise to exotic locations, such as the Galapagos Islands, Tahiti or even the tip of Africa. You will never forget the memories that you make on a Christmas Holiday cruise to paradise. One situation that has raised questions among the armchair cruisers on TikTok is the visa process for cruise guests. There are more than 60 countries on the itinerary, and each will require different visas for entry.

The company just unveiled its Ultimate World Cruise, an epic 274-night sailing that visits all seven continents, including over 150 destinations in 65 countries. It sounds like the perfect way to cross off half your bucket list in one fell swoop. Get ready to see the world in a whole new light — introducing the Ultimate World Cruise onboard Serenade of the Seas®.

Passengers are also of many nationalities, so Royal Caribbean wasn't able to dispatch a one-size-fits-all guide for guests. "Could they have done more? Probably, but could they have done less? Also yes," Linderman summarizes. TikToks about the Ultimate World Cruise have since received millions of views.

"I've been lucky enough to be able to travel. I've lived abroad a few times. Travel is how I like to spend my time and money." In viewing all the TikToks posted, creators have seemingly created a real-time view of the cruise and given they'll be on the ship for 9 months, TikTok has become obsessed with what they're calling "a reality show". Maddox said it makes sense that people are trying to use the language of reality TV to understand what they see on TikTok, where “storytime” posts and drama are often posted episodically. Still, she urged viewers to remember that where reality TV is often scripted and planned behind the scenes, those on the Ultimate World Cruise are real people living their real lives.

9 month cruise map

On shorter cruises, you might make “vacation friends” who you hang with for a couple days and vow to stay in touch, only to inevitably lose contact three months later. You might get to know a few crew member’s names just as the cruise is drawing to a close. On a nine-month cruise, your fellow passengers aren’t just incidental travel companions bound together by proximity, they’re like neighbors in adjacent apartments in a floating shared community. They’re not just people you might run into at dinner once or twice during the week, they’re semi-permanent fixtures of your world for nine months, with whom you’ll have the time to form actual relationships. While the prospect of visiting all of the world’s most iconic destinations in a set amount of time is certainly enticing, I also can’t help but ponder over the logistics of life on a cruise ship for nine months. Is the human body capable of living off of cruise buffets, endless drinks, and vacationing for that long?
